Heroes Restaurant

Updated: Aug 17, 2019

It's not everyday a new restaurant opens in Julian. So when when one does, it's pretty exciting for us locals. I was extra exited about one of our town's newest businesses because it honors our first responders and military. For those who don't know, I've been very active in the Julian-Cuyamaca Fire Department for years. From the ambiance to the service to delicious food, Heroes Restaurant does a wonderful job of honoring those who serve our country in all forms.

Located in the De Luca House built in 1893, Heroes is a multi-generational family run and operated business. Chef Cole explained to me that five of his family members have served our country as first responders and in the military, and that was the motivation behind their business. They are all about giving back.

My parents were so excited to try this place that they went here twice... without me. They redeemed themselves when I found out we were celebrating my mom's birthday here. Between all seven of us, we tried everything from their burger, to soup, and their fried chicken sandwich. Their large portions are served to you in a pie tin (how cute!). I ain't complaining. I ate every bite of my fried chicken wrap and house cut french fries!

Looking at their menu, their prices may seem a bit high, but for good reasons. They use never-frozen, always fresh ingredients and make just about everything from scratch. Not to mention their service is on point with a touch of humor, and the food is fabulous.

Don't let the size of this tiny 1800's house fool you. Their hospitality here is impressive. They have indoor and outdoor seating with a view of town, meaning you don't have to leave your furry friend in the car. The menu has vegan and vegetarian options. You can find hooks outside for your motorcycle gear. If you call ahead, they will work with you to make arrangements for your large party (weekdays preferred). To top it off, you can even order to go.

Be sure to check them out and support this local business!
